01 — Our narrative
Obsidian is a volcanic glass formed from rapidly cooled lava, preventing crystals from growing. This seamless structure allows it to split into edges of molecular thinness, creating a blade exponentially sharper than surgical steel. These flawless edges are still used today in delicate surgeries to minimize scarring and speed up healing.
Historically, Armenia is home to some of the world’s richest deposits, acting as a major hub for prehistoric trade networks. While famous for its glossy black void, obsidian isn’t always monochromatic; trapped impurities can create stunning varieties with iridescent rainbow layers, metallic sheens, or white snowflake patterns.
